What We Do

Our Mission

At DWROK, we provide tailored, needs-informed support to returning migrant domestic workers. Our programs are shaped by each woman’s experience, and our goal is to offer sustainable empowerment—not just short-term relief.

Case Management & Reintegration Support

We use a structured approach to walk with returnees through every step of their reintegration:

Screening & Registration

Identifying and onboarding returnees into our system.

Vulnerability Needs Assessment

Understanding each individual’s emotional, social, economic, and legal needs.

Case Planning

Creating customized plans with clear goals and measurable outcomes

Implementation & Monitoring

Linking returnees to vocational training, psychosocial support, legal aid, and business start-up assistance.

Case Closure

Once the returnee has regained stability and met their reintegration goals, we conduct final reviews and maintain follow-ups.

everyone deserves dignity—both abroad and at home.

DWROK is more than an organization—it’s a movement. We stand for justice, healing, and dignity for every migrant worker who has experienced hardship abroad. Our work continues until every migrant worker is not just welcomed back—but fully empowered to start again.

Main Working Areas

We use a structured approach to walk with returnees through every step of their reintegration:
2. Screening & Registration – Identifying and onboarding returnees into our system.
3. Vulnerability Needs Assessment – Understanding each individual’s emotional, social, economic, and legal needs.
4. Case Planning – Creating customized plans with clear goals and measurable outcomes.
5. Implementation & Monitoring – Linking returnees to vocational training, psychosocial support, legal aid, and business start-up assistance.

empowerment Programs

We help returnees build self-sufficiency through:

– Vocational training

– Business support and mentorship

– Risk mitigation strategies, such as business insurance

– Advocacy for a homecare management curriculum to build marketable skills

Advocacy & Systems Change

We don’t just support individuals—we push for change in the system that failed them.

– Government Partnerships – Working with Kenyan embassies and labor attachés to create safe spaces abroad and facilitate access to justice.

– Policy Advocacy – Promoting ethical recruitment and combating modern slavery and exploitation.

– Data-Driven Interventions – Collecting and analyzing data to influence public policy and improve reintegration programs.

– Collaborative Networks – Building partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, and the private sector for stronger safety nets.

– Family Affairs – We organize counseling sessions for the teenage children and young children of deceased migrant workers, as well as for widows, widowers, and parents who have lost their daughters or sons—especially in the Gulf countries, where such cases are sadly common. Alongside emotional support, we help cover school fees and provide essential needs to ensure these families are not left behind.

Emergency Referrals

– While we don’t directly offer services like medical care or shelter, we work closely with trusted partners to ensure urgent needs are met quickly and professionally.

Our Activities

  1. Welfare & Relief: We support returnees in distress through immediate care, including food packages, medical referrals, shelter, and help with school fees or essentials for children. We also offer assistance to families of deceased migrants—providing emotional support, education sponsorships, and help with funeral arrangements where needed.
  2. Counselling & Emotional Healing: We organize counselling sessions for widows, widowers, and especially the children and teenagers of deceased migrant workers—many of whom lost their loved ones in Gulf countries.
  3. Advocacy & Partnerships: We actively partner with organizations like IOM, ILO, RAHT, CDTDT, CHETEA, DPAK, and religious institutions to fight for the rights and protection of migrant workers.
  4. Information & Referrals: We disseminate vital information to migrants at all stages—before they leave, while they’re abroad, and after they return. We also refer those in crisis to trusted organizations depending on their needs: legal, health, shelter, or livelihood.
